THE WISE AND THE FOOL

My prayers for you today that you will be wise with the help of Jesus the Christ
There are four things on earth that are small but unusually wise:

  • Ants—they aren’t strong, but they store up food all summer.
  • Hyraxes—they aren’t powerful, but they make their homes among the rocks.
  • Locusts—they have no king, but they march in formation.
  • Lizards—they are not easy to catch, but they are found even in kings’ palaces. There are three things that walk with stately stride—no, four that strut about:
  •  the lion, king of animals, who won’t turn aside for anything,
  •  the strutting rooster, the male goat, a king as he leads his army.  If you have been a fool by being proud or plotting evil,  cover your mouth in shame. As the beating of cream yields butter and striking the nose causes bleeding, so stirring up anger causes quarrels.

Por Cristo nuestro Señor. Amen. Come,O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.  Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.  And you shall renew the face of the earth.  Let us pray.  O God, who has taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation.  Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,  what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings  and crowned him with glory and honor.  You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:  all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,  the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.  O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John  (though Jesus himself didn’t baptize them—his disciples did).  So he left Judea and returned to Galilee.  He had to go through Samaria on the way.  Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.  Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.  Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.”  He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.
