Daily Bread

Jesus said:  Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and you shall find.  What man is there of you who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will he give him a stone, or if he shall ask for a fish, will he give him a serpent?

If you then with all your human imperfections know how to give good things unto your children, how much more shall your father with is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?  Therefore, whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also unto them. Matt. 7:7-12.

Let us thank God for all the provision which he has made for the needs both of our bodies and souls.  For all the sustenance which you has provied for our bodies, minds, and spirits, to fit us for communion with you.  We thank you, O Father God in Jesus' name

Dr Olav Fykse Tveit has denounced the extrajudicial killings of Benjamin Bayles and Jovelito Agustin, both lay ministers of the Philippine Independent Church. In a 29 June letter to President-elect Benigno Aquino III, Tveit urged "the Philippines government to keep its commitment to international human rights instruments and put an end to the killings and to the culture of impunity by prosecuting the perpetrators and granting justice to the victims of human rights violations". Aquino is being inaugurated today. He succeeds Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
